I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and I am on one tablet a day. Still waiting to hear from a dietician so don't know what I can and can't have. Feel a bit out of my depth.

Hi grannyzap (great name!) - Welcome to the board.

I would recommend you read as much as you can about diet - and take information from whoever will give it to you - and then make your own mind up about what you should and shouldn't eat. We are not all the same and have different preferences and ideas - we just need the confidence to not take everything we see and hear as gospel.

I would recommend you visit www.diabetes.co.uk and their forum for more help as well as come here for ours.

I think everyone here should get a copy of Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution as well - it is very interesting.

Also read up on carbs and the GI diet too. I have also been reading a lot about exercise and fitness. I am a diabetic of 2 years and am still finding out new things. The one thing I have learned is the better you are informed the better you can control things.

I lost weight on the GI diet, but found my blood sugars to be really high with all the carbs... (just my penny's worth) Smile
