Re: your last HbA1c ?
Well done Beanie...remember to have a life! (whatever one of those is)
Don't forget you may never ever get your figures to what the NICE 'requirements' are - just get them to what you can and take care I think is as good advice as any.
Statins ..... mmm I agree I hate them and won't take them. Try Ezetimibe. Not statin but will reduce your LDL levels. Take whenever you like during the day as they have a long half life and rarely do people have side effects. I have been on them for years now. Try Benecol yoghurts and spread and drinks....they really help to drop it too.
Plus thanks for staying on here - I sometimes think we are the only ones still alive

Re: your last HbA1c ?
Thanks Nick.
I'm going to try it alone first, I have brought my cholesterol levels down on my own before, so I'm determined to do it again. I wouldn't have thought that an overal number of 5 would be enough concern for them to want to put me on meds?! Fine tell me off, but there are people out there with numbers much worse than that!
I brought the benecol drinks and spread. Not sure 'how' they work, but I have seen the adverts on the TV and as you say they work there can be no harm in trying. Porridge for breakfast for me from now on, better find a way to keep that exciting! Ha ha.
My aim for 2012 (ok I know it's march already, but I didn't make a new year resolution) is to get my HbA1c down to <8.4. I dunno how hard that is gonna be but it doesn't sound too impossible. (She says )...
