Hi again
Sorry I have not been on for a while, I had a major operation (hysterectomy/hernia repair) 10 weeks or so ago - and I have been feeling bad before and after that - but I am finally getting there now (just gone back to work).
I have to say that the care in the hospital was fantastic apart from the fact that they knew bugger all about diabetes!!!!!!!!!!!! I was shocked, I can tell you!!!!
Glad to see Nick and Clare have been holding the fort, and perhaps we can prop this board up a bit and get it running better. A big "WELCOME" to all the new members.............

Re: Hi again
Hi Imogen
Welcome back !!
Wondered where you had gone to.... glad that you are back to 'normal' whatever that is for a diabetic!!
Hospitals and knowledge of diabetes.......mmmm yeah, just doesn't compute at all.
Had a patient in the other day who is Type 1 and had an op. Wondered what drip they were about to put her on.....
Guess what ???
Some dumbo decided that she needed glucose drip to pep her up as her blood sugar was a bit low!
Mmmmmmmmm scary or what??
When she said I am diabetic and NO DON'T PUT THAT BLOODY THING IN ME .......... nurse looked rather shocked and said 'OK don't get your knickers in a twist it wouldn't have hurt you'
I gather complaints have been lodged and hope they get a result.
Shall we start a 'Gripes with Medical Care' thread??
