Retinopathy results

I had a letter to say that "your eye photographs were satisfactory"... from a "Mary Whitehouse" (wondered what she was doing these days!!!)...

Does that mean that my eye test was OK or that the photographs they took were good and the results would be with me in the future!!!

Some people's grasp of the English language leaves something to be desired!

Hi Imogen. When the results of the eye photographs come back, satisfactory it means you have nothing to worry about.

My last eye photographs were done earlier this year by an experienced technician. As it was my second time but was still unsure, she took time to explain the results. Satisfactory means you have nothing to worry about. If you get any other result you are either invited back for another scan or advised to make an appointment with your GP or diabetic care team, and sometimes both.

For my owm peace of mind I also have regular eye tests too. I try to get my eye test 6 months after my eye photographs. If necessary I can then also get the opticians to dialate my pupils and take a look.

Hope this helps, but if you are still worried speak to your opticians or diabetic care team.

Can't expect enthusiasm form anyone about good results... they only get wildly excited with bad ones!!!

Cept me of course...I'll be one of the only Health profs that doesn't try to tell you off about high or low results

I agree, you'd think some of them would have a little more personality, but perhaps there's not room for that in their brains!!! However, I do think that some health profs with problems (diabetic or otherwise) are more understanding than those smug gits who remain healthy.

The only thing that I can say is that we at least have a head start on the 'smuggies' and with the latest guesstimates from HM blithering idiots (whoops sorry Government) that we now have 2.75 million diabetics (whoops sorry again not politically correct to say that!! javascript:emoticonp('') ) people with diabetes ~ the others will soon catch up.

Glad I can make you smile once ~ twice is almost toooooo much ~ remember you're a diabetic and NOT supposed to enjoy yourself (too much )

Um... what is not pc?

It is easier to get blood from a stone than information from my GP. My last eye scan was done on the NHS at a private opticians, so I got good service.

Last week I went down to the docs for blood tests and a wee sample (complete with card) and this morning they are phoning to tell me I need to do another one because they have no record of my being there. I go to the docs tomorow evening so I will see what he has to say.

Actually I can think of a lot of things to say about my doctors surgery, not many of them are polite, what do they want, blood?

It's no longer politically correct (apparently) to say diabetics. It has to be 'people with diabetes' !

People suffering with or from diabetes is a horrendous thing to say in PC circles as suffering would imply pain and illness and well suffering!

I have been 'advised' a couple of times in the NHS not to say diabetic. However as I have diabetes and consider myself a diabetic and that to p**s me off could constitute going against the disablement act....they let me off...or rather just walked away

Caroline, can you not change surgeries or COMPLAIN loudly!? Jeez!!!!!!!!!!!

Lady with a baby? Or is that assuming that we're all ladies? Coz I ain't!!! Surely they wouldn't say "person with baby" - coz I assume that they know only women have babies!????? I am doing a lot of assuming!
