Invokana Starting Dose Empty Invokana Starting Dose

Let me start out by saying I'm a poorly controlled Type 2 Diabetic. My last A1C was 10.6. I'm currently taking Metformin 1000 mgs two times a day. I asked my doc about Invokana. He started me at 300 mgs. I read the prescribing information and it has said to start at 100 mgs, and then increase to 300. What, if anything, can I expect from starting this high?
