A big Hello from Plymouth!!
I have just read the latest Balance and thought it would be great to join the forum.
I am a retired Warrant Officer and left the Royal Navy in September 2006 after 26 years service (God that makes me sound ancient!!).
Unfortunately, 3 months later I was admitted to hospital with DKA after losing a lot of weight rapidly (Good) and my eyesight deteriorating (not so good), and diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes .
I knew nothing about Diabetes at all and felt that the two visits from the Diabetes Nurse in hospital did not prepare me for the changes in my life. I chose the two injections a day based solely on the fact that it was less than four!!!
Since then though, I have managed my condition quite well, with the odd relapse when someone leaves a bag of Haribo around!! Also I think the stess of being a Plymouth Argyle supporter doesn't help!!
Looking forward to chatting with other members.

It will be easy to test my blood sugars tonight as I think I am going to slash my wrists!!
