Howdy folks, I got the link from the 'Balance' mag, My name is John from Grimsby, & I've been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes since May this year. I notice from the Balance mag, that a lot of areas don't give the support to diabetic sufferers, but I can honestly say that the support I'm getting from my db nurse at my drs practice is second to none. The only downside was when I was first diagnosed it took about between 10 - 12 weeks to actually have information other than reading db uk, and other books, as one person said to me that if you take in everything you read you will frighten yourself to death. I think it should be a lot less than that to get well and truly established with full support. Anyway as I say my support now is just brilliant. In fact I've another appt tomorrow so will find out the latest, I'm hoping I can come off the simvastatin, as that is the only medication I'm taking as I'm on diet only, and checking blood sugars every couple of days, and I'm usually between 5.2 - 8.6 depending on the time of day and meals. I hope to get to know others on here.
Cheers,
John (Voldemort 57) Laughing

Hi John
Welcome to the board, and thanks for the introduction. I am glad you are getting support from your nurse - that is brilliant. I felt very very overwhelmed when I was first diagnosed - and it comes in waves still.

Now for the important question "who is that gorgeous doggie in your picture?" Laughing

That's our Jessie, She's dead now about 3 yrs but this is the best photo of her. We have her pup, though I call him the pup he's 12 now lol!!!! She ended up with cancer, but she was 19 when we had to have her put to sleep which was a good age considering she was the runt of the litter. She outlived all her siblings. she wasthe best of the best

I have had many dogs and I know some of them sneak deeper into your heart than others.... although you cannot help loving them all... We had 5 dogs and 4 cats when our son was born.... my Gran asked what we were going to do with them! I said nothing - they are our family! Not sure she appreciated being in the same group as my dogs!! he he.
