Anyone had injection in their eye?

Post  penny on Fri Nov 20, 2009 2:23 am

Sorry to post on such a squeamish subject. I have been type 2 diabetic for at least 12 years and my control for many years was really bad, metformin did nothing for me so last year they put me on insulin - magic, control at last. I have no major problems with my feet etc etc but my eyes are really damaged. Even though my blood pressure and sugars are controlled now since last year my eyes have been getting worse and worse and a lot of fluid is behind the middle of my eye. My Opthamologist says the only thing to do is give me an injection of something into my eyeball - while I am awake. I get palpatations just driving past a hospital and despite taking insulin I HATE needles. It is different injecting your tummy, this sucker is coming straight for your eye. Has anyone had this before? Is it as horrible as I suspect? Is there anything whatsoever I can take to improve my eye health - vitamins etc?????? Thanks so much guys.

eyuuuuckkkkkkkkkkk

Nope never heard of such a thing. Sorry to say that cos you wnat some information.

Have to say I am with you, that sounds totally gross......and why?

Presumably they do it under a local anaesthetic (after drops in the eye)???

Still think I'd rather be out of it and opt for general please.

Take care
Nick

I have had new lenses in both eyes, you get drops, then the needle, as they say you will feel a slight prick and it's true. Hope this helps.
