Hi
Hi again,
Thanks for the welcome. I suppose I am lucky I have a very good gp surgery and a lovely diabetic nurse, they do give me support. But why oh why did I get this?????????????????? I never took sugar in my tea or coffee and didn't eat a lot of fatty stuff. I am not overweight. Its beyond me. I was diagnosed 28th July 07. I am trying to keep away from the medication and coping with it by diet.
I still have a part time job which I love, and my colleagues understand I have to eat at regular times. As my duties are 11am until 2pm or 2pm to 5pm. The thing is sometimes I am so hungry even after eating sometimes. The nurse said it could be because I'm thirsty, but I'm not convinced. I am waiting for the appointment for my next big check up.

Hi
Hiya Jay, well I'll guess that your a type 2 diabetic, but believe me it isn't caused by eating sugar one way or the other, fatty foods, well aren't they just bad for everybody on the planet (lets not forget salt, coffee, wine, etc etc) there is always something that is bad for us. (just a shame its usually something we really like).
I have to admit that I used to ask myself the "why" question in the early days of my diagnosis, but for me diabetes is in the family - I'm type 1, the relatives that I know who are diabetic are all type 2, so I guess I broke the mould. Don't beat yourself up on the "why" question.
Hope you're big appointment is a good one for you.

Re: Hi,
I have cut out a lot of carbohydrate in my diet - just get it from veggies now and I don't get hungry nearly as often and my blood glucose control is much much easier.
